Rules & Regulations
SCHOOL DIARY
Every student must be in possession of her diary on every working day.
UNIFORM
All uniforms should be of the regulation pattern.
- White dress, well polished black shoes and clean white ankle length socks.
Only white under garments may be worn.

House uniforms with white shorts and clean white
keds, must be worn on P.T. days.
- Class XI and XII to wear white uniforms with school belts, and regulation
shoes with ankle - length white socks.
-
Hair below shoulder length should be neatly
plaited.
-
No coloured clips, bands or combs should be worn,
Only black colour is permitted.
- No jewellery except a single pair of small ear studs or earring may
be worn. Any breach of this rule will cause the attending articles to be
confiscated and retained by the School. Nails should be neatly pared.
- Use of Mehendi, hair colouring, makeup, kajal, nail polish is not
permitted under any circumstance.

DISCIPLINE
- Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence, habitual late
coming or objectionable behaviour of any kind may result in the removal of a
girl from school.
- No girl should leave the school premises before 1.20 p.m. without a gate
pass. Any default will be very seriously viewed and severe disciplinary action
will be taken against the defaulter.
- Before and after school hours there should be no loitering outside and
around school. The driveway should be kept clear for traffic. The front of the
school building is out of bounds for the girl except
when coming to school and leaving it.
- No purchases should be made from any hawkers or vendors outside school
premises.
- School Property damaged or destroyed will have to be made good. In
addition a heavy fine may also be imposed.
- The Boys’ School campus (including staff quarters) is out of bounds for
any girl in uniform.
- Disciplinary measures include detention on Friday and suspension, as
deemed fit, by the Principal, considering the gravity of the offence.
- The possession of considerable amount of cash, cameras, I-pods, electronic
devices, Mp3 players, cell-phones, expensive watches and jewellery is strictly
forbidden.
- Dayscholars are not allowed to bring or buy articles for boarders.
Disciplinary action will be taken if the above rule is violated.
- The Principal can in the interest of the school, have a student removed if
in the former's opinion the student has failed to accept the discipline of the
school and her continued presence is detrimental
to the interests of other students and the school.

ATTENDANCE
- Girls are expected to be punctual at all time. They will not be permitted
to enter the school gate if they are late. She should be on time for Assembly
at 8.00 a.m.
- On being absent, a leave letter from the guardian must be submitted to the
class teacher, clearly stating the reason for absence.
- In case of illness the Principal must be notified in writing by the third
day, and the anticipated time of absence mentioned.
- Girls absent from school on medical grounds must produce a letter or an
entry in their school diary from parents or guardian when they rejoin. This
must be supported by a medical fit certificate.
- Girls affected by infectious diseases, or exposed to such diseases in
their homes, must complete the quarantine period before rejoining school. This
should be indicated on the medical certificate.
- Minimum 90% attendance per term is required.
- Every child must be present on the first day and last day of each school
term to qualify for enrolment in the next class in the new year.
- Please do not phone the school on days when there is heavy rain,
suspension of public transport or any other emergency. School will continue
for those girls who are present.
- There is no such thing as a half day leave for students. If an appointment
is made with a doctor, the girl must not be sent to school on that day.
Requests to send girls home early after unit tests will be
automatically turned down.
- The school does not provide for any re-testing for class assignments, unit
tests etc. which are missed due to absence.
- All leave other than sick leave must be sanctioned by the Principal.
- Girls absent for more than 1 week without prior sanction are liable to
have their names struck off the school rolls.

GENERAL
- All correspondence should be addressed to the Principal by designation,
and not by name.
- Kindly quote the Roll number written in her bill book in all correspondence with the school.
- Parents / Guardians are requested to sign the Progress Report in the
appropriate place at proper time and to note the number of days the girl may
have been absent during the term.
- Parents / Guardians are also requested to notify the school of any change
in address, and telephone/ mobile number.
- The school is not responsible for the loss of personal belongings. Girls
are discouraged from bringing valuables, money or wearing any form of
jewellery to school.
- Parents and Guardians are NOT allowed to see their children or interview
teachers during school hours. Teachers can be seen either before school or at
the end of school after taking prior appointment.
- Project work in any subject which is submitted for evaluation or
competition will thereafter become the
property of the school.
- Should a student be injured during class time, or falls sick the school
will make every effort to contact the parent first. However, in case this is
not possible the school authorities will take necessary measures, as deemed
fit.

TRAVEL CONCESSION
- Requests on plain paper in case of railway concession, and/or printed
forms (available from airline offices) in the case of air concessions, must
reach the Principal's Secretary's office at least TWO WEEKS before the school
closes for vacations.
- It is not possible to issue concession vouchers if applications are not
received on time.
- Railway concessions are available for journeys between Kolkata and home town only.

BOARDERS
- Parents / Guardians are permitted to visit their daughters / wards between
4.00 p.m. and 6.30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. Boarders may leave the
school premises with approved escorts only.
- Those going out for the weekend may be picked up from school between 1.20
p.m. and 4.30 p.m. or between 4.00 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. only on Fridays or on
Saturday when the same is a working day. Girls
are expected to be back in School on Sunday evening before 6.00 p.m.

All boarders must be back in the Hostel a day
before school re-opens as mentioned in the School Calendar.

Visitors are not permitted inside the dormitories.
- In case of illness, every possible care is taken in the school infirmary.
As soon as girl is admitted into the School infirmary, parents are informed at
once. However, should the School doctor feel that a child
be taken to hospital, the School will do so even before parents can be
informed.

Boarders are permitted to go home only on
alternate weekends of every working month.

The hostel will remain closed during Easter,
Summer, Puja and Christmas holidays.

PRIVATE TUITION
-
Private tuitions are discouraged excepting in
special cases.
- Parents wishing to arrange private tuition for special cases, should not
approach teachers directly. A
request application should be made to the Principal, giving full details of
their wards and reasons why they consider it necessary to arrange tuitions.
-
No request for private tuition in Nursery and
Primary School will be entertained.
- The Principal may amend these rules, if required, during the course of an
academic year.
In the interest of their wards and the School, parents are requested to
conform to the above rules.

CRITERIA FOR PROMOTION
NOTE: Promotion will be decided on the whole
year's performance and not merely on the basis of the final examination grades.
The Principal, guided by the common code of justice and fairplay, can
exercise her discretionary power for changing any of the condition mentioned
above in exceptional cases, which cannot be quoted as a precedent.
