Ahona Palchoudhuri was selected to participate in the
Indo-Swinton Exchange
Programme in U.K. between 9th to 24th July organised by the Duke of Edinburgh's
Award Scheme. She was also awarded the Amity Award for the most outstanding
student for All-Round Excellence.
Our team went up to Shimla to attend the Slater Debate on 28th April. They
were represented by Anwesha Sengupta, Ahona Sen, Rhea John, Joyeeta Dey from
Class XII. They went up to the quarter finals. Anwesha Sengupta & Rhea John
received the Best Speaker Certificates.
Debjani Mitra of Class XI won Best Speaker and Best Interjection at the
National finals of the Outlook Speak-Out Debate.
Anusha Misra got the Certificate for Courage at the
Telegraph Awards. Anusha
is batting a serious illness. In spite of it, her regular attendance at school
is a source of inspiration to us all.
Rohini Ghosh of Class VII participated in the
National Level Science Talent
Search Examination and secured 83% in it. Her performance has been adjudged
excellent. She has secured the All India 1st rank in Mathematics.
Scholastic Writing Awards, a nationwide short story and non-fiction writing
competition for students was held in January. This year the competition was open
to over 3,000 schools. We are proud to announce that the following students from
our school have been declared winners - Shalmi Barman Class X ranked 1st and
Vedika Agarwal Class VII ranked 7th. They received cash and book prizes.


The Bengal Rowing Club Inter-School Championship
was held from the 14th to
21st May. La Martiniere for Girls placed first for the fourth time in a row.
Each team member received prize money worth Rs. 3,000/-, medals, certificates
and the newly introduced rolling trophy.
The team comprised National & International Rowers, they are:

Mohini Mitra of Class IX
represented West Bengal in the
Rowing Sub Junior
Nationals held at Bangalore from 19th to 22nd June. She won the Bronze Medal in
the Sub Junior Fours category.

Lydia Gomes and Roshni Ali
won certificates of Honour, for
Tennis, Basketball and All-Round Sports.
B. Rhea Rao of Class VII
represented West Bengal in the 5th Girls under 17
sub-junior National Football Championship 2008-2009 held at Haldwani in
Uttrakhand from 9th to 26th August.
Roshni Ali of Class XI
took part in the
South District Swimming Tournament and she placed 1st in the Butterfly Stroke.
Mihika Agarwal of Class VIII
came 2nd in the
State Level Swimming Competition in both breast-stroke and back-stroke.
Devika Dutt of Class XI
stood third at
the national level Tae-kwon do championship.

AWARDS
We are pleased to announce, like last year, Education World conducted a survey
of 250 schools across the country.
They were rated on 12 parameters which included Academic Reputation,
Co-curricular Education, Quality of Teachers, Leadership
and Management Quality.
La Martiniere for Girls ranked second among the top day schools in the
Eastern Region and third on an All-India scale. Our School also won the
Telegraph Certificate of Merit for Extra-Curricular Performance and Certificate
of Honour for Best Academic Performance in ISC.

The Vice President, Mr. Hamid Ansari, presented the prestigious
international Awards for Young People (AVP) at Vice President's House
in the capital on 29th April, 2009. Ahona PalChoudhari of La Martiniere
for Girls was one of the recipients of this award. She was congratulated
by the Vice President on receiving the Gold Award.

 RESULTS
The I.S.C. and I.C.S.E. results for the year 2010 were declared on
the 19th of May.
The school obtained a 100 % pass in both the examinations.
In the I.S.C. examination there were two toppers, Sarah Hafeez
and Poulami Somany Ganguly, both of whom scored 97.25 %.
In the I.C.S.E. examination Vedika Prakash was the top scorer
with 96 %.
